One Man Band
In the early days of ENG (Electronic News Gathering), the equipment
was bulky and heavy. It worked best if two people
carried and operated the equipment - a photographer and an audio
engineer. To save money, many groups sent one person out to do
everything. He was known as a 'one man band'.
You can see the huge pile of equipment this guy is going to be
carrying around, while trying to shoot his story. The equipment
weighed about 75 pounds. One man bands tended to burn out fast.
