T38 Ride - Edwards AFB

I flew in this T38 at Edwards Air Force Base. It was piloted by a senior test pilot instructor. It took two days of training before I could fly in the aircraft - a high altitude chamber ride, ejection seat training, etc.

I was along on an actual mission which was to chase a test pilot student learning to spin test the T37. Our job was to act as a safety observer calling off altitudes as the T37 spun inverted, watching for problems, and inspecting the T37 after each spin for loose or missing panels, fluid leaks, etc.

It was a kick in the pants!
