Rescue Effort - Cypress Freeway Collapse
I took this picture in the evening after the SF Earthquake caused the collapse of the Cypress Freeway which killed 53 people. Mine was the first news truck on the scene and we broke the story to the nation. -- Well, not exactly. A KRON truck beat me to the scene but KRON was off the air at the time so we did break the story. Here, you see the upper deck pancaked on top of the lower deck. Some of the bravest people I've ever met crawled into that unstable structure looking for survivors in the rubble. |
