Before we left there was plenty to do. We had to get Narnia prepared, learn basic seamanship, navigation, and so forth (Larry knew this stuff inside and out, but we didn't.)

We made a number of practice trips around the San Francisco bay including a night trip to the Farilon Islands. It was so foggy when we returned that we had to navigate all the way back, through the busy bay, and up the Oakland Estuary to Larry's slip on RADAR. Good practice!
