Christchurch is the logistic support center for all United States and New Zealand research on the ice.

This warehouse contains all the clothing necessary to support up to 1200 US personnel while deployed to Antarctica. Each person receives three large bags of specialized clothing while preparing for their deployment.

There is an astronomical observatory at the South Pole and many of the people I worked with have wintered over at the South Pole in support of this project. Antarctica is one of the most fascinating places on Earth in my opinion.
