Underway
Replenishment
Navy ships at sea never stop to take on supplies. It's too dangerous to go dead in the water. Ships are replenished by steaming close together, and shooting lines across to each other which are then used to pass supplies and fuel across. The water between the ships can get very rough as you see here, and there is always the chance that someone might be washed overboard. It's a demanding and dangerous business which is done by highly skilled nineteen year old kids. Life on a navy ship at sea is not like life in any other branch of the service. You better do your job right, 24 hours a day, or someone is going to get killed. |
