This is Ed Danz manning the ECM gear while underway. The two of us used to
handle this watch station quite often.
The equipment is used for what is known as ELINT, or Electronic Intelligence.
It's used to intercept all forms of electromagnetic radiation such as RADAR,
communications, etc.
