Helicam View - Oakland Fire Training Tower
This is a frame of microwaved video from an altitude of about 100 feet of the top floor of the Oakland Fire Department's training tower. The hardest obstacle to good video with Helicam was vibration. Helicopters have all sorts of vibrations - at the main rotor RPM, at the tail rotor RPM, and of course the 2 BHP engine running at over 10,000 RPM a few inches away is a challenge. Keeping the helicopter tuned and adjusted to perfection is absolutely essential. When the helicopter is flying perfectly the fuel just lies in the tank - no sloshing, so foam... It's a pretty sight. |
