The SR71 has finished refueling and is just about to start its acceleration run.  This very aircraft set the current world speed record over a closed 12/15 kilometer course of 2,193.167 mph in 1976.  The record still stands today. What a privilege it was to fly next to it!  It was retired and flown to Warner Robins Air Force Base for display on February 23, 1990.  To watch the video click here.
